Manikarnika is a period film based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai. The character is being portrayed by none than the fearsome lady Kangana Ranaut. Since Manikarnika is a historic relevant film, thus the costume selection and makeup become much more important. It is said that the costume designer of the film Neeta Lulla took a good 8 months of pre-preparation time before the actual shooting of the movie.
Kangana is said to have flaunted four different looks in the movie. The first look is the vintage look where you can see lots of Khadi textiles have been used. The second is the look of Queen Jhansi in love where she is seen in pretty pastel shades. The third look is the warrior look where she is seen in dark coloured clothes and the fourth and the last one is a classy white look.
So, let’s have a detailed look at how the look and makeup breakdown of Kangana in the latest Manikarnika movie can be displayed –
Look 1 – This is the teenage look of Kangana Ranaut where the young yet patriotic Kangana is seen. The lady is seen here with a look of intensity. Her makeup is kept quite simple and matte. The makeup is more glorious and only the lips are plain nude but with a gloss finish. Her costume is in dark colour with more and more golden detailing to it. Her jewellery is also quite regal and has lots of golden accents to it.
Look 2 – This is the royal look of Kangana Ranaut. Here the lady is seen wearing white long kurti and churidar. This is a silk material kurti with self work done all over it. She is seen wearing royal jewellery and her royal sword is a sight to behold in this look. Her hair is tied back in a turban which looks royal and stylish both.
Look 3 – This is a simple and sober look of Kangana in Manikarnika. Again her simple pathani silk saree is winning the show here. Pathani silk is an ancient textile worn by Maharashtrian ladies and widely loved by them. The saree is simple but the shine and the aura of the saree and her look speaks volume here. Her hair is again tied back in a simple and sleek bun. The jewellery is quite simple and more of pearl jewelry.
Look 4 – This is the pre-warrior look of Kangana. Here you can see her wearing bright and eye catching clothes. The makeup is quite limited and more of matte here. To depict the angry look of Kangana, she is seen wearing dark shades of lipstick here. The jewelry is limited to a simple pearl chain which has doubke beaded pattern over it.
Look 5 – This is a classic pristine look of Kangana in the movie. Here she is seen wearing a beautiful satin silk cream coloured saree with cream checks contrast shawl at the sides hanging loosely. Her hair is kept in a bun again and her only accessory is her bright maroon bindi in the look. She is only wearing black bangles in the look.
Look 6 – Here Kangana is seen only in darker tones. She is seen wearing darker coloured clothes with banarasi or zari border. The jewellery is multi layered here and her hair is also nicely glamourized in this look. This is also the post bridal and thus she is seen in lots of bridal colours here. Also, her massive nose ring and the half moon sign at the forehead is a show stealer.
