In this post, I am talking about Dot & Key Gloss Boss Tinted Lip Balm SPF 30 Vitamin C + E. Basically I purchased only 1 lip balm (Choco mint) but my cousin purchased their 4-1 lip balm kit, in which 4 different lip balms came in a box. This kit comes with the fruity goodness of strawberries, cocoa, watermelon and mangoes backed by SPF 30 for smooth and plump lips with non-stop shine. If you are among those who prefer tinted lip balm over lipsticks in regular life then this kit/lip balm can be a bliss. Best thing is that this lip balm comes with SPF 30, our lip skin is sensitive and we definitely need something to protect it from harmful sun rays 🙂 In this post I am focusing more on my favorite shade or variant of this lip balm range however will show swatches of all the four in this post.

Packaging: Packaging of this lip balm will definitely drag you to your school days. The lip balm comes in the paint tube packaging which is color coded. Remember those oil paint colors we used in our drawing classes, mixing different shades to make new shade. Ah! I miss those days like anything.. The outer card board is also color coded, unfortunately the box I received came with stickers pasted on the majority part. I tried to take them off and its irritating process. I am a damn impatient soul 😉 No doubt the packaging will win your hurt, I never like any packaging the way I am liking this one.
My opinion about the product: The cocoa mint is a beautiful nude brown shade. It is a tinted balm and has lip gloss like consistency. As I mentioned above this range of lip balm has 4 shades, 3 are tinted (Strawberry Crush, Watermelon Rush and Cocoa Mint) and Mango passion is a transparent lip balm. As per name these lip balms have fruity fragrance. A lot will not like it but I love the way Cocoa mint variant smells like, thing I don’t like is that these lip balms also taste like the fragrance. It means the Cocoa variant smells like cocoa and also taste like the same. I am ok with the fragrance but not happy with the products tasting like food 🙁
The lip balm is highly pigmented and imparts beautiful shade on your lips. It glides smoothly on your lips but the issue it that it is difficult to control the quantity of the product. You always end up applying more on your lips. Hydration power is awesome, it keeps your lips nourished for 4-5 hours. Best thing is even after that the tint is there on your lips. It has gloss like consistency so seems like you have applied a lip gloss. You can also use it over your lipsticks to add on more hydration to your lips 🙂 It also has SPF 30 which will guard your lips from harmful sunrays.
Overall this lip balm is must have product in your vanity. I know! few may find it a bit expensive but it is worth spending on it 🙂 I will be buying other shades (tinted one) too but wish they were taste free 😉
