I really have an interesting backdrop for this lipstick since this was the one which I wanted to get since ages. And all my friends and closed ones knew very well that this had to be the perfect gift for me still because of its hefty amount even I was not ready to gift it to myself. So Ruby woo remained to be a dream for all these years and for this valentine’s day my loving hubby decided to surprise me with this beauty as a center of attraction among all the surprise gifts and I can’t explain the happiness in words. People might think that I am exaggerating the whole scenario but ladies who know about MAC ruby woo will empathize with me for sure 🙂

Price: Rs 1650 for 3 gm
Shelf Life: 3 Years from the date of Manufacture
What MAC has got to boast about its Best-Seller?
Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street. What made Mac famous. Mac describes Ruby Woo as a very matte vivid blue red.(Retro Matte).
Packaging: Nothing fancy about the packaging as it comes in a regular MAC style with a typical solid black bullet Packaging. I love how the silver ring in the middle pf the outer product shines and make the product look more posh and though it’s a usual MAC style it definitely looks classy and feel luxurious. Product’s bottom part has the code and the name whereas the outer carton bears all the vital details and I love how they mention all the ingredients.
Formula: Since this was my dream product I had enough knowledge about it and most of the people who have used the product claimed it to be drying but to my surprise it was not something scary that I expected it to be, Instead the application was very smooth and of course after the application I felt it to be a bit drying which is totally normal for a matte lipstick and as I always say in all my reviews follow the Mantra “Exfoliate, apply lip balm before applying the Matte Product” which is an open secret now.
Colour Pay-off: It is a very beautiful blue based red shade which will suit every skin tone and I plead guilty even for wearing it to office. It’s hardly 3 days that I have this beauty in my hand but you can’t imagine the way I am using it. I even used it at home when I was just doing my household chores since that was the day 1 I got it and I wasn’t able restrict myself from using it. It has a very rich colour pay off, gives you an Opaque matte finish and looks absolutely stunning. Honestly I found the application to be very soft and easy.
Longevity: Kudos to its high staying Power. Though I know being a matte lipstick it’s going to stay for a long time I was stunned since it did not fade away or crumble even after good 8 hours. I think it is a good product to be used on a busy day where you will not have time for multiple touch-ups and I also felt bad for not owning it during my wedding since it would have made me look like a Diva. Nevertheless I can make it up now by using it every now and then.
My suggestion would be to get a lip liner which suits the shade. I never had the habit of applying lip liner and being a rich shade I felt it is must to define and fill your lips with a lip liner before we hit on the product.
More about the Product: Colour of it keeps varying with respect to different light settings and I think it is something nice to feel about since you get to create different looks with no effort. And to talk about the fragrance of the product it has a mild Vanilla chocolaty smell which I loved it so much and I kept on sniffing it even while writing this up. And yes since it is a matte lipstick it is transfer proof like all of its Pals and travel friendly since the packaging is quite sturdy.
I am not sure if I will be getting anymore products from MAC because of its high price range but I feel content and satisfied owning the much raved about “RUBY WOO”. If you guys are like me and want to own something from MAC I would highly suggest you guys to invest only on this baby and you will be rock as “Lady in Red”
Extra-Tip: It is also available in the “Mini” range and it costs 900 Rupees which is affordable compared to the full size product. You can keep this as option 1 since my husband wasn’t aware of this fact and ended up gifting me a full size (Poor soul).
What I like about this product….
- Unique shade.
- Rich pigmentation.
- Smooth application.
- Fabulous staying power.
- Doesn’t smudge.
- Transfer proof.
- Matte finish.
- Lovely Vanilla fragrance.
What I don’t like about this product….
- Slightly drying post application.
- I wouldn’t term it as a con but will say it as a stopping factor : Its high price (MAC keeps hiking their price range in an unimaginable way as I remember this to be of 900 before few years).
