I love using kohls on a daily basis and they are the one staple item that I never leave my house without. This is why, I am very fond of searching for new kajals and trying them out. The kohl from Jovees is a new one in the market and I was eager to try it out. Let me take you through a quick review of the kajal so that you may decide if you can buy it or not.
Price: INR 190
Quantity: 0.3gm
Shelf life: 3 years
Direction of use: Apply on the inner lids and outer lids as and how you like to wear your kohl. Can also be used as an eye liner.
Packaging: Like any other drug store kajal, this one also comes packed in a cardboard box with yellow, black and pink details. The black and pink combination of the packing gives it an impressive look. The pencil is a retractable type which can be twisted to reveal just the right tip for application. Take care not to twist the pencil more than required else you will risk breaking the kajal tip and also be careful while placing the cap in correct alignment.
My opinion about the product: Coming first to the pigmentation of the kajal, I would not say that it is deepest black in colour. Yes, it is quite deep black in colour but you will need to give two to three swipes of the pencil to get the desired colour. As far as the texture of the pencil is concerned, it is quite smooth and glides on very smoothly. In fact, the tip is quite resilient unlike our ordinary Maybelline kajal in the same format, since it does not break off easily. Luckily, it does not even irritate the eye upon application.
However, this one is not smudge proof as claimed. It might go easy for 2-3 hours but after that it smudges pretty easily. You can expect it to stay on your eyes for 5-6 hours but with some smudging. Also it can be washed off really easily with water. You won’t get panda like eyes by using this kajal, which is just a good enough reason why you should try it.
If you look at the package of the kajal, you will find some really intense claims. It claims to help your eyes relax and feel soothed, encourages growth of eyelashes, and help in maintaining and improving the vision. Now, if you look at the ingredients, you will find a mention of castor oil and almond oil, which are known to improve your hair growth on eyelashes but this does not mean that this kajal is going to give you any noticeable results. You have to consistent with the application of these oils to notice any difference, which is obviously not possible every time.
What I liked about the product:
- Cheaper option as compared to another drugstore kajals.
- Natural ingredients.
- Washes off easily.
- Creamy texture.
- Nice pigment.
What I don’t like about the product:
- Isn’t smudge proof.
- Low staying power.
ZZM Rating: 3.4/5
