Hi Mommies & Daddies!!!
My boy was born in the month of April and here in North India it is damn hot in April, May & June. Earlier it used to rain in July but now it is hot days in July too. Aarav was only three months old when my aunt asked me to give some water to him. To be honest I didn’t like Idea as I knew that a baby should not be given anything apart from milk. But her logic was it is damn hot & he must be thirsty. So she offered some water to him with the help of a spoon. But my boy didn’t really go for its bland taste after he’d come to his milk.
On my next visit to Aarav’s doctor, I asked the doctor about giving water to him as the days were really hot. According to him up to six months of age, babies get all the water they need from breast milk or formula. “Giving baby water at this age interferes with feeding and can lead to poor weight gain.
So next time if someone suggests you to give water to your baby in summer-y days. Tell them clearly that water need of a baby at this age (till 6 months) is full filled by breast milk or formula. So need to give them water separately 🙂
