Hello lovelies! We are back with another review on one of the most hyped and popular lippie from the recent days, the Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid lipsticks. I have to say this, when the product was about to be launched on Nykaa, I was thrilled with all the advertisement and promotion of the product and I had made up my mind instantly about trying out the lipsticks. I bought myself shades ‘Dilli’ and ‘Mishti’, which I am going to review for you today.
Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Paraffin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cera Alba, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Behenyl Methacrylate/ T-Butyl methacrylate copolymer, Parfum, Talc, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pearls and Approved Colors.
Price: 599 Rs
Qt: 5 ml
Shelf life: 3 Years
Direction of use: Start by applying at the center of your lips and draw it outwards along the edges, following the outline of your lips. Repeat for desired tint effect. However, I would advise you to wait for a few seconds before going for a second swipe, since pigmentation level of your lips might make a single swipe enough.
Packaging: Quite commendably, the product comes packed in an impressive packaging, which makes it appear worthy of the price paid for it. The outer packaging is a cardboard box in the signature colors of pink and black, which mark Nykaa’s theme. The lipstick is packed in a cavity at the center of this box. The body of the lipstick is quite plain, with the tube containing the lipstick, transparent on all four sides and the cap, a shade of black. The applicator brush is peculiarly shaped, almost like the beak of a bird, which enhances the application process.
My opinion about the product: I would like to start by saying that I am a huge fan of liquid lipsticks and with all the hype going around the Nykaa liquid lipsticks, I was completely inclined to lay my hands on them. Starting with the packaging, I doubt if anyone is going to find any complain with the product to this end. What really matters is the application process, which is made easy with the specially shaped applicator brush, ensuring that it glides down your lips conveniently, without spilling the shade outside the contours of the lip. Also, the tube is practically weightless and compact, which means that they are easy to carry around, even in a sleek purse.
As for its performance, let me take up its claims one by one.
Firstly, the product claims to give a superior matte finish, which is completely true. Once the product dries down in under one minute of application, the lip shade appears completely matte. However, there is a very slight feeling of the weight of the product on the lips, after it dries down. Also, the product does not dry out your lips like an ordinary matte base lipstick. Hence, it does not highlight the dry lines on your lips or settle in between them after application.
Secondly, the product claims to stay on all day long. Well, this is not entirely true. For the initial 4-5 hours, the product tends to stay as it is on your lips but with each meal or drink, it transfers bit by bit and by the end of the day, you will see that the tint is there on your lips but not quite the way it was initially.
Thirdly, the product claims to be transfer proof, which is not true. Like I said, with every contact with a glass or after a meal, the shades tend to transfer a bit, even when they are completely dry. Hence, I would suggest that if you are having something very greasy or liquid in your meal, be prepared for a touch up.
The shade ‘Dilli’ is a sweet pink colour and will go with all Indian skin tones and same goes for the shade ‘Mishti’, which is a striking red.
All in all, this is a high performance lipstick, which is going to be a value addition in your wardrobe but somehow, it does not match up to the claims and the hype that has been created around it.
What I liked about the product…
- Attractive packaging.
- Practical and travel friendly design.
- Non drying matte finish.
- Good lasting power.
- No preservatives or paraben.
- Somewhat reasonable.
What I don’t liked about the product…
- Transfers a bit.
