My first bath was given by the some hospital staff whom I don’t remember. So technically I can say that my mother hasn’t given me my first bath. But after coming home with her, she was asked and compelled to do so. So, Basically, I was given my first bath from my mother on the second day (but it was my first experience 😉 ) & believe me I could remember how my mother was shivering like hell. After seeing her reaction, I could not control my shivering also, though I don’t know what was the cause for it. I felt that my mother was puzzled about handling me. So many questions were popping into her head at same time. She was like “how should I hold him”? “What if I slip from my her hands”, “What if foam enters my eyes”? etc. It seemed like she was also playing with my things like shampoo, body wash etc. She always tried to escape from giving me the bath , asking my Grandmothers to help her. Hhhh.
Now, Seriously let me tell you something very important and scientific. You should give the baby a proper/real bath until our umbilical cord falls off. The umbilical cord needs to remain dry in order to fall off, so during this duration you need to give us a sponge bath. Once the cord has fallen off then we are ready for full adult like bath techniques. Then you can give us a real bath & that day it will be a real exam for our mommy pie’s 😉
I am sharing few tips to make our first bath an easy process नहीं तो मेरे मम्मी जैसे पसीने छूट जायेंगे. He he.
1. Keep Me safe and Comfortable:
You need to buy a bathtub which should be comfortable & safe me. Always use a good quality tub with a proper space to support my head.
2. Please let it be NO tears for Me:
When it comes about the baby you need to be extremely careful while choosing bath products. Always buy a tear proof shampoo which will helps avoiding irritation if foam enters my eye(s). I would always suggest avoiding soap on the skin as it can be harsh for my super soft skin. Instead of soap, you can also go for a mild body wash.
3. Lukewarm is what I Prefer:
Next thing you will need is water at perfect temperature for me. Water should be neither too hot nor too cold. Please, I would request that before giving me bath make sure that water is at the perfect temperature.
4. Always Be Ready:
Before giving bath keep everything (like shampoo, body wash, towel etc) that will you need during bath time and after the bath close to you and me. Never ever leave me baby alone, even for a second.
5. Do the Opposite, the head at last:
Always wash a baby’s head at the end of bath time because the fastest place babies lose heat is from their head. That’s why our head to body surface ratio is more.
6. Keep Me Fully Covered:
After finishing bath immediately cover baby’s head & body with a towel. Always use a hooded towel in order to keep my head covered.
7. My Skin Needs Nourishment like Me:
Make sure to pat dry baby’s skin with the towel & after that moisturize baby’s skin a nice body lotion. No matter its summers or winters you should never skip the moisturizing part post-bath.
