Hello Dearies,
The presence of term “Ayurveda” in a product gives a brownie point, if I am buying the product. I came across The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, which claims that it is inspired by Ayurvedic traditions, this 100% vegan tingling clay mask is infused with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil. And it’s been formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. After reading so many good reviews about the product, I got super excited 🙂
Price: 2,195 Rs
Qt: 75 ml
Packaging: The product is housed in a heavy brown glass pot which is embossed at the bottom and has an over-sized black screw on lid, I really thought that you got more than 75 ml of product as the weight of the pot is a little misleading. The packaging is beautiful and looks much more expensive than it is, definitely gives a luxurious look.
My opinion about the product: The mask is greyish brown in color and has a very thick consistency. It has a mixture of very fine charcoal and larger tea leaves throughout the product. I use my fingers to apply this mask, you can also use a brush. But I personally find that it applies smoothly and evenly enough with the fingers. It takes around 20-30 seconds to build up a nice even coat.
It has a strong menthol and tea tree smell, it’s not unpleasant but it’s pretty strong and if you don’t like a strong fragrance in your skincare products, it will bother you. It is a clay based mask with kaolin being the second ingredient. It also contains a high amount of alcohol (5th on the list) and menthol and eucalyptus oil which can irritate the skin if you have sensitive skin so you have to be extremely careful before buying it.
If you have applied single layer of this mask then it generally takes 10-12 minutes to get it dry completely. The presence of menthol will give tingly sensation to your skin. I have sensitive eyes so they becomes teary on application which I hate. Taking off this mask is easy all you have to rinse it off with water, you can also use a face cloth soaked in warm water and pat it over the skin. You have to be very gentle while removing the mask as the tea leaves provide quite a deep exfoliation. If you have sensitive skin, it may turn red like mine 🙁 Post application my skin feels clean & smooth. Now to be honest exfoliation effect of this mask is super effective but the rest nothing “WoW’ about the product. I mean you definitely expect much from the well know brand and the product tagged at the price of 2,195 Rs.
